KRA Notices

This guide explains how to view and manage notices from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) in C-Tax.

What are KRA Notices?

KRA sends notices through the eTIMS system to communicate:

  • System maintenance schedules
  • Policy updates and changes
  • Compliance reminders
  • New regulations
  • Important announcements

C-Tax automatically receives these notices and displays them for you.

Viewing Notices

Step 1: Go to Notices

Click Notices in the sidebar menu.

Step 2: View the Notice List

You’ll see a list of all notices showing:

Notice Status

Reading a Notice

Step 1: Click on the Notice

Click on any notice title to open it.

Step 2: Review the Content

The notice detail shows:

  • Full Title - Complete notice heading
  • Date - When it was published
  • Type - Category (System, Policy, Compliance, etc.)
  • Content - The full message from KRA
  • Link - Sometimes includes a link for more information

Step 3: Mark as Read

Once you view a notice, it’s automatically marked as read. Or look for a “Mark as Read” button.

Unread Notice Count

Finding Unread Notices

Look for:

  • A number badge on the Notices menu item
  • An indicator showing unread count
  • Bold or highlighted notices in the list

Clearing the Count

The unread count decreases when you:

  • Open and read each notice
  • Mark notices as read manually

Syncing Notices

Notices are usually synced automatically. To manually sync:

  1. Go to Notices
  2. Look for “Sync” or “Refresh” button
  3. Click to fetch the latest notices
  4. New notices will appear in the list

Filtering Notices

By Read Status

  • All - Show everything
  • Unread - Only new notices
  • Read - Only viewed notices

By Type (if available)

Filter by specific notice types to find what you need.

Important Notice Actions

System Maintenance Notices

When you see a maintenance notice:

  1. Note the date and time - When will the system be unavailable?
  2. Plan accordingly - Complete urgent transactions before maintenance
  3. Inform your team - Let colleagues know about the downtime

Policy Update Notices

When you see a policy update:

  1. Read carefully - Understand what’s changing
  2. Note effective date - When does it take effect?
  3. Prepare for changes - Update processes if needed
  4. Ask questions - Contact support if unclear

Compliance Alert Notices

When you see a compliance alert:

  1. Act promptly - Compliance issues need attention
  2. Check deadlines - Don’t miss important dates
  3. Take required action - Follow the instructions
  4. Document your response - Keep records

Notice Best Practices

Daily Check

Make it a habit to:

  1. Log in to C-Tax
  2. Check for unread notices
  3. Review any new notices
  4. Take action if required

Weekly Review

Once a week:

  1. Review all recent notices
  2. Ensure nothing was missed
  3. Update team on important changes

Keep Records

For important notices:

  • Save or print a copy
  • Note actions you took
  • Share with relevant team members

Responding to Notices

Some notices may require action:

Can’t Find a Notice?

If You Know It Exists

  1. Check your filters - maybe it’s filtered out
  2. Search by keywords (if search available)
  3. Sync to get latest notices
  4. Check the date range

If You’re Not Sure

  1. Sync notices to get all available
  2. Review unread notices first
  3. Look through recent notices
  4. Contact KRA or support for specific information

Notice Troubleshooting

No Notices Appearing

  1. Try syncing manually
  2. Check your internet connection
  3. Verify your branch has a working device
  4. Contact administrator

Notices Not Marking as Read

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Click on the notice again
  3. Use the “Mark as Read” button if available
  4. Report to support if persistent

Missing Important Notice

If you think you missed something:

  1. Sync to get latest notices
  2. Review all notices without filters
  3. Check KRA official website
  4. Contact KRA directly if urgent
