Getting Started
This guide will walk you through your first steps with C-Tax, from logging in to navigating the system.
Logging In
Step 1: Open C-Tax
Open your web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge) and go to your C-Tax login page. Your company administrator will provide you with the website address.
Step 2: Enter Your Credentials
On the login page, you will see two fields:
- Email Address - Enter the email address associated with your account
- Password - Enter your password
Step 3: Click “Log In”
Click the Log In button to access your account.
First-Time Login
If this is your first time logging in:
- You may be asked to verify your email address - check your inbox for a verification email and click the link
- You may need to set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) if required by your company
- You might be prompted to change your temporary password

If 2FA is enabled for your account:
- After entering your email and password, you’ll see a screen asking for a verification code
- Open your authenticator app (like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator) on your phone
- Find the C-Tax entry and enter the 6-digit code shown
- Click Verify to complete login
Forgot Your Password?
If you can’t remember your password:
- On the login page, click “Forgot password?”
- Enter your email address
- Click “Send Reset Link”
- Check your email inbox for the reset link
- Click the link and create a new password
- Use your new password to log in
Understanding the Screen Layout
Once you log in, you’ll see the main C-Tax screen. Here’s what each part does:
The Sidebar (Left Side)
The sidebar is your main menu. It shows all the sections you can access:
- Dashboard - Your home screen with summary information
- Branches - Manage your business locations (if you have access)
- Customers - View and manage customer information
- Users - Manage team members (if you have access)
- Items - Your products and services catalog
- Sales - Create and view sales transactions
- Purchases - Record and view purchases (if you have access)
- Stock - Manage inventory (if you have access)
- Imports - Handle imported goods (if you have access)
- Notices - Messages from KRA
- Insurances - Insurance configurations (if you have access)
Note: You may not see all menu items. What you see depends on your user role.
The Top Bar
The top bar contains:
- Page Title - Shows which section you’re currently viewing
- Your Profile - Click your name or avatar to access settings and log out
The Main Content Area
This is the large area in the center where you’ll do most of your work. The content changes based on which menu item you’ve selected.
Selecting Your Branch
If your company has multiple branches (locations), you need to select which branch you’re working with:
- Look for the Branch Selector in the sidebar
- Click on it to see a list of available branches
- Select the branch you want to work with
- All your transactions will now be recorded for that branch
Important: Always make sure you have the correct branch selected before creating any transactions.
Navigating the System
Using the Sidebar Menu
- Click on any menu item to go to that section
- The current section is highlighted
- Some menu items may have sub-items - click the arrow to expand
Going Back
- Use your browser’s Back button to return to the previous page
- Or click on a different menu item in the sidebar
Breadcrumbs
At the top of some pages, you’ll see breadcrumbs like:
Dashboard > Sales > Create New Sale
Click on any part of the breadcrumb to jump back to that section.
The Dashboard
Your dashboard is your home base. It shows you:
Statistics Cards
Quick numbers showing:
- Total Branches - How many locations you have
- Total Transactions - All transactions created
- Pending - Transactions waiting to be processed
- Completed - Successfully processed transactions
- Failed - Transactions that had errors
Quick Actions
Buttons for common tasks:
- New Sale - Start creating a sale
- New Purchase - Record a purchase
- View Transactions - See all transactions
Recent Transactions
A list of your most recent transactions showing:
- Transaction type (Sale, Purchase, Stock)
- Status (Completed, Pending, Failed)
- Date and time
- Amount
Click on any transaction to see more details.
Environment: Live vs Sandbox
C-Tax has two modes:
Live Mode
- Real transactions sent to KRA
- Use for actual business operations
- Transactions are legally binding
Sandbox Mode
- Test environment for practice
- Transactions are NOT sent to KRA
- Use for training or testing new features
How to tell which mode you’re in:
- Look for an indicator showing “Live” or “Sandbox”
- Sandbox mode usually has a different color scheme or banner
Warning: Always make sure you’re in the correct mode before processing transactions!
Logging Out
When you’re done using C-Tax:
- Click on your profile name or avatar in the top-right corner
- Click “Log Out”
- You’ll be returned to the login page
Security Tip: Always log out when:
- Leaving your computer unattended
- Using a shared or public computer
- Finishing your work for the day
